Halloween from my point of view

As fall comes near with its beautiful vibrant orange, yellow and brown colors. So, does the Halloween season with a never-ending choice of costumes and sweet treats to give away. But, there's always that one question that may be lingering in some Christian's mind. Do we celebrate this holiday? Am I going against God? Or Is this the devil's Holiday to trick children? Well, this is my thoughts on this whole idea.

But, let me take to you back to when I first realized this holiday is considered bad or questionable. See when I was a child a church lady and her daughter questioned me about Halloween. It that the right word well it is now. Regardless I continued doing it for the candy. Seriously its free candy who wouldn't. When I had kids I didn't even care I dressed them in pumpkin costumes. How adorable is that right.

As my faith grew and I gained more knowledge through reading my bible I started questioning my ways. Is it right with God to celebrate Halloween?

Perhaps this the question you have and that's why you're here reading this blog post. So, some bible verse comes to mind when I pray about this.

The first bible verse one is "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad today!" Psalm 118:24. Every day the Lord had made and he made it with perfection and rested on the seventh day to admire his world.

The second bible verse is: But maybe you don’t want to serve the Lord. You must choose for yourselves today. You must decide whom you will serve. You may serve the gods that your people worshiped when they lived on the other side of the Euphrates River. Or you may serve the gods of the Amorites who lived in this land. As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

So, on this day who did you glorify, and who's way did you follow? As a family did you commit a sing against God?

The way I look at it anyone can commit a crime anytime not just on Halloween. There are people out there that practice being a Witch throughout the year. The point is as a Christian household who do you exemplify in this world. If you're getting candy by dressing your children up I think it's safe. Can you find a bible verse that tells you it wrong? You can shut the lights off and ignore this whole thing.

But, after some research and thought I didn't see why I needed to off the light. I thought I could shine that light on this occasion.

Here's how:

1. Talking to my family about this topic and why we don't need to participate in scary Halloween stuff

2. Put bible verses or tracts in the Halloween treat bag

3. Finding alternatives to Halloween such as truck or treat or harvest festival

4. Be strict with the costume my children choose to wear

5. Don't participate in this day at all.

I mean it's a start to October 31..... it's still a day God made. Having an event on that day shouldn't alter our Christian values. If it's affecting our values consider changing our thoughts and behavior. Be fully equipped with your amour of God because every day we battle with our enemy.

So, let me know in the comment section below your views on this topic.

If you struggle with the idea of teaching students about the great commission then look no further

If you're struggling with the idea of teaching students about the great commission then look no further.

I'm here to give you useful ideas to promote the great commission without feeling frustrated. Now, If you're thinking why would anyone use young children to reach out to others about Christ. You're probably not alone.  In the Bible, even Jesus's disciples struggled with this idea.
In Matthew 19: 13-15 its says:

"Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there."

Children are just as important for the Kingdom of God as adults. Sometimes the kids in our life can give us great lessons to learn. For example: reminding us to love God with a genuine heart..

Are you looking for an effective ways to study the bible?

Your wait is over because I've got the answer for you. Studying the Bible can be a challenge if you don't have a method to follow. I've been there multiple times in my life even completely aborting reading bible altogether I figured Sunday sermon was enough to cover every need I had. Until I realized it wasn't enough to quench my thirst for the word of God. I needed to study the word of God on my own to fulfill that need and get closer to God. If you need more understanding of why families should have devotions at home check out the video "Why do I need devotional time at home with my family?" which gives better insight into this topic.

If you hadn't checked out our "Bible unit" playlist on YouTube especially the videos titled Study the bible and read the bible. Because these videos give specific ideas about how to study the bible and what to read in the bible. So, what are you waiting? Check these videos?

Here are worksheets (at our etsy shop) for the "Wh method" (coming soon) and "S.O.A.P method" to study the word of God. A tip I should mention is put all your study material in a binder so, you can refer to it later on. You may use them as lesson plans for future lessons. I hope you enjoy these worksheets and let me know what you think.

5 tips that every new sunday school teacher needs to hear!!

Let me first congratulate you on your new position as a "Sunday school teacher." You now have the opportunity to minister to the next generation of followers and leaders. I hope and pray that you do an awesome job.

So, now let's move on to the tips:

1. Keep the focus on God: Position means power used in the right way can be very useful. But, when we fill ourselves with pride (for example I did it, all about me me me) then it can lead to the downfall of your ministry work. Humble yourself and put God first and watch the blessing come down.

2. Read your Bible: The bible is filled with an abundance of knowledge and wisdom. Even till our last breath we still won't fully understand it. Never think you know everything cause you don't and won't. Ask for help if you don't know something about the bible.... it's okay trust me we all do.

3. Pray for those you teach: Pray for the children, youth or adults that you teach for their wellbeing, understanding, family and what God wants you to teach them.

4. Be yourself: Don't act like someone else instead be yourself. And teach what you like for example: if you love singing then do that......if you're not a crafty person then don't emphasize it so much.

5. It's okay if things don't work out according to our plans: Planned the most awesome lesson in the world or so you thought. Only to find it not going according to plan, yes it happens even to the well seasoned among us. Don't worry...….learn from your mistake and grow from there...….no one is perfect it'll be better next time.

5 day Reading Journey from palm sunday to resurrection

Well, it seems like Easter is just around the corner and time is going by so, fast. It's time for our kiddos to focus on the cross and what Jesus did for us.

John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

We're truly blessed to have so much given to us by our Awesome God and wonderful Savior. And this is the love that we can teach our students. This activity focuses on reading bible verses that take the students from palm Sunday to resurrection. By reading the suggested verses with a bible equivalent to their understanding student have a chance to explore the events that took place.
This activity helps them to see different verses related to Easter other than John 3:16. Through encouragement and a race to end may increase their eagerness to learn something in a creative format. It may help to explain each event while reading to enhance the learning of the child.

If you have early readers in the class I recommend reading picture books on the events and ignoring the bible verse suggestions, so they can participate.

This activity is available in both black and white or colour at our etsy store. It includes 1 peg file and instructions. I hope that helps you out.

Is the name Sunday school outdated in modern churches?

If you have the same question, then I’m glad you stopped by this blog. Interestingly, some churches have opted out of the name “Sunday school” and replaced it with “children’s ministry.” Or something more captivating such as Route 66 or Kidmin. So, why change the name if the ministry concept is still the same as before?

It may have something to do with making things appealing for the children so, parents can encourage them to attend church. Some reluctant kids may hide under the covers when they hear the words “Sunday school”. I mean kids already attend 5 days of regular school a week and any more might be dreadful or boring to them. I think I had the same thought when I was a little kid and my parents encouraged me to attend.

What’s more important is does these changes take away from the biblical teaching that has been provided in the past? If the sound truth of the biblical doctrine remains the highest priority then, it's fine. Also, with all the changes and upgrades (lights, decorations, sign-up stations, entertainment, and prizes) does it  lead to decrease teaching we may have some problems to address.

Previously children had ministry catered to them on Sundays but, as times have changed more time is spent towards them with weekday and Saturday services added. If parents are willing to bring them to these services, then it's awesome to have more time to fellowship with God.

John 3: 16 resources for Sunday school

John 3:16 is one of the most famous memory verses. And one of my favorite bible scriptures ever. The first reason is that John 3:16 explains the entire bible in a simple and effective way. Secondly, when the scripture is broken down into its core components. It makes a great bible lesson that can be taught to a new Christian and be revised for a current believer. Lastly, John 3:16 is the simplest way to explain
God's love and Jesus' purpose to a non-believer.

Here are some resources linked to our YouTube channels that can elevate your lessons. TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!

Songs:

You can also buy my John 3:16 worksheet printable on my Etsy store which is a digital download. That is easy to print and simple to use.

I hope all these resources and ideas help you in your Sunday school classroom or at home with your kids or grandkids.

Until the next blog take care and God bless,

What fills my heart?

Valentine's day is just around the corner here is a worksheet to complete with your students.  It's called "What fills my heart" it's a activity to think about what's in our heart.

Instructions are simple:

Direction: Have the students fill sections of the heart with things, people, quotes, places they love.   It could be done by drawing pictures or just use words in block letters for a unique effect.  There’re 2 heart  options to choose from  first one is with suggestions written on the sections of the heart, and the second one is left blank.

Have fun with it, fill it with colour and show others the beautiful things they treasure.

Always here to make Sunday school easy

God bless,
Roselean

Monthly bible verse challenge

Do you do monthly memory verses?

Try this idea out with your students.

How to use this card: (free)

1. Print out the post
2. Instruct the children to practice memorizing this scripture (they can even take the card home and with the help of their parents memorize the scripture)
3. When the child is ready test them to see if they know the scripture by heart if yes, sign it for them (if no then give them a few chances)

Now, when they take the card home with the signature it will be a prize like moment.

I will try to upload 12 months worth of these types of cards soon.  So, be on the lookout for that.

Have a good one and stay blessed.
